| The electrical
system in an Automate fifth-wheel is first made on a layout board.
There are layout boards for each of the basic sizes and designs
but the folks doing the harness follow the drawings for each
individual trailer to insure that all the wires reach (since you
probably moved a light or an outlet) and that any additional wires
you asked for (second or third telephone) are added. The use of a
harness allows all wiring to be color coded and run as single
lengths of wire within the body of the trailer. |

This is the layout board for the
electrical system on our trailer. Since we changed so many things
almost every wire had to be lengthened or moved to a different
location. The layout folks did an excellent job everything worked
when we flipped the switches.

One end of the AC wiring harness ends
here at the breaker box. You have a choice of 30 or 50 Amp power,
solar and/or a generator. We also had a "whole house" water filter
(above breaker box) added to take a bit of the bite out of the
fine Arizona water we enjoy every winter. |

Most of the wiring is done before the
walls and roof are added to make it easier to secure the wires out
of the way. A lot of the DC wire comes from the basement to the
rear of the trailer through the TV cabinet on our trailer, all of
this is now secured down out of the way and out of sight. |

Once the side walls are installed the
hanging cabinets are added and the wiring is secured inside them.
With the wire run in this way if you ever need to get to it you
can. Another benefit is that the insulation in the walls does not
have to be reduced to allow room for the wires to be run. |

The hanging cabinets are in place and
the wire is being secured inside them. Note that the slide is set
inside before the street side wall is installed. This makes
crawling around inside to take pictures much more difficult. They
didn't take my suggestion that they could leave it outside until
they were ready to put the roof on and then lift it over the top
and down very seriously.
